
Constituent Connection
I had the pleasure to meet with the Harford County Cultural Arts Advisory Board and constituents on Maryland Arts Day. Currently their budget is set at $31 million, and I will do everything in my power to protect this budget and keep the arts flourishing in Harford. The economic impacts of the arts in Maryland are something we cannot ignore.
Good Energy Open House
BGE is hosting an open house on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties- Edgewood. The open house is expected to address how to understand your energy bill, how energy works, energy bill increases in 2025, and billing options and resources. Road Closures
Harmony Church Road in Darlington will remain closed until February 21st. Weather has pushed the originally scheduled opening back a week. The closure for the tree removals will happen between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you have any questions, you can call 410-638-3279 ext. 7931.

Power Outages
Recent winds and storms may have damaged electrical equipment throughout Maryland. I would like to provide the following resources if your home has been affected by recent weather conditions. You can report your outage here, or by texting 69243. As a reminder, fallen overhead power lines should never be approached or touched even if the lines do not appear to be live or sparking. Chesapeake Bay Trust
The Chesapeake Bay Trust has several grant programs that fund projects for veterans, large- and small tree plantings, community rain gardens, neighborhood litter clean ups, and many more. Some of the programs have deadlines and some offer rolling admissions. A link to important dates and further information can be found here.
Anyone ages 18-25 should consider applying by March 6th, to be a member of the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps. It is a one-year position in which you serve a host organizations across the region. Perfect for anyone interested in green careers! Further information can be found here.
Service Year Option Program is Live!
I am excited to announce that the application for the third class of the Service Year Option program is live. The application is open for those who wish to serve in Class 3, which would begin in September 2025. The program allows individuals a chance to serve, grow, and build while participating in a paid, nine-month service with guided support to build your future. Highlights include a minimum of $15/hour, a $6,000 completion award, health care benefits, professional development career training, access to apprenticeship certification, a dedicated Service Success Coach and mentor to guide you, and a chance to impact communities throughout Maryland. Youth Oratorical Contest
The talented middle and high school students of Harford County will be delivering original speeches inspired by Langston Hughes’ poem, "Harlem". The showcase will be Sunday, February 23 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Star Centre. The event is free to the public with a reception to follow at Havre de Grace Colored School.
